Ghana Announces Visa on Arrival and Direct Flights to Kumasi for the 2024 Holiday Season

In a bid to enhance travel to Ghana, two exciting updates have been unveiled for the upcoming holiday season:

1. Visa on Arrival for December 1 - January 15, 2025
As part of the “December in GH” campaign, Ghana is offering a Non-Pre-Approval Visa on Arrival from December 1, 2024, to January 15, 2025. This initiative makes it easier for international travelers to visit Ghana during one of the country's most festive periods, allowing them to enjoy the rich culture, vibrant festivals, and unforgettable events. The visa waiver is part of the broader "Beyond the Return" initiative, which aims to reconnect the global African diaspora with the motherland, strengthening cultural ties and promoting Ghana as a top destination for tourism and investment.

A statement from the Ghana Tourism Authority emphasizes that the new policy is designed to simplify the travel process, inviting more visitors to experience the country’s diverse offerings, from arts and music to historic landmarks and festivals.

2. Direct Flights from London Gatwick to Kumasi
In another boost to travel options, Ethiopian Airlines will begin operating direct flights between London Gatwick and Kumasi Prempeh I International Airport starting December 3, 2024. This new flight service aims to provide seamless connections to the Ashanti Region, making it easier for travelers to visit Kumasi, a hub of culture and history in Ghana. The flight schedule offers convenient timings, with departures from London Gatwick at 2:10 am and arrivals in Kumasi at 9:05 am. The return flight departs Kumasi at 11:00 am and arrives in London at 6:00 pm.

This direct route marks a significant step in improving access to one of Ghana's most historically rich regions, especially during the festive season, when tourism to the region tends to peak.

Both updates serve as a part of Ghana's efforts to attract international visitors and further elevate its tourism sector, making the country a must-visit destination in 2024 and beyond. For more information on these updates and to book flights, travelers are encouraged to visit the official websites of Ethiopian Airlines and the Ghana Tourism Authority.
